Privacy policy
QuranShelf collects no personal data. The app has no accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking or crash reporting, and the publisher receives nothing from it.
Who is responsible
QuranShelf is a free, non-commercial app published by Mostafa Mollaahmadi, the controller responsible for the app and this website under data protection law. For any privacy question, write to:
support@quranshelf.appYour data stays on your device
Your collections, notes, bookmarks, reading positions, search history and settings are stored only in the app’s local database on your device. They are never sent to the publisher or to anyone else. When you delete an item, the app keeps a deletion marker for it, and possibly its content, in that local database.
Deleting your data
To erase everything, delete the app’s data or uninstall the app. On a computer, also delete the app’s data folder, which uninstalling can leave behind. Files you export or share are copies you chose to make. Your device’s own backups, such as iCloud, Google or Time Machine, are kept in your own account or on your own drive; delete them there.
Permissions are optional
If you allow location access, your location is used only on your device to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction; it never leaves your device. You can choose a city instead and never grant the permission. Notifications are used only for the prayer reminders you turn on. They are scheduled on your device, not sent from a server. You can turn either permission off at any time in your system settings.
When the app goes online
Reading and search work entirely offline. The app connects to the internet only when you choose to stream or download a recitation, or to download an optional content pack. Recitations are delivered by Islamic Network (Al Quran Cloud). Content packs are delivered by the hosting provider of this website, with access logging switched off. Like any server, these receive your IP address and the technical details of the request, such as the file requested, in order to deliver it. Nothing from your library or settings is sent, and every connection is encrypted with HTTPS. The providers’ own policies apply.
This website
This website is made of static pages. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics, tracking or third-party embeds; its fonts, images and video come from QuranShelf’s own servers. To deliver the pages, our hosting provider processes your IP address and request details only as needed, with access logging switched off. It may do so outside the EU, under an adequacy decision or the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Children
QuranShelf collects nothing from anyone, children included, and is suitable for all ages.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. The publisher holds no data from the app, so there is nothing on our side to access or erase: your data is on your device, under your control. You can also complain to a data protection authority, in particular in the EU country where you live or work.
If you email us
If you write to support, your email address and message are used only to answer you and are deleted once they are no longer needed for that. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in replying (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You never need to send your notes or reading history.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date at the top.
